Visiting the Grand Canyon during the fall and winter months is something you SHOULD make plans to do.From the South Rim at Grand Canyon National Park, and from the community of Tusayan, your Grand Canyon experience can be anything you want it to be. From Grand Canyon hiking, trail rides on horseback or mules and camping to river rafting, helicopter or ground tours by jeep, only from Grand Canyon National Park can you truly experience all the Grand Canyon has to offer. You won't find this many ways to see and experience the Grand Canyon anywhere else. Here, the attraction is the Grand Canyon, made by the forces of nature over millions of years. That's why we feel THIS is the "Real" Grand Canyon. Located in northern Arizona, the Grand Canyon is 277 miles (443km) in length, 10 miles (16km) wide and a mile (1,737km) deep. The Grand Canyon is home to hundreds of bird, reptile and animal species. The geology of the Grand Canyon displays hundreds of millions of years in the life of our Earth and nowhere else can a geologic timeline be seen so readily. Visitors will want to make plans to see the Grand Canyon at either sunrise or sunset as the low angle of the sun makes the colors come alive. With hotels and lodging both inside and outside the National Park, restaurants, cafes, shopping and information centers, your time spent at the Grand Canyon will be an experience worth remembering. We hope you will plan to spend several days here in order to have a true Grand Canyon experience. Taking a quick look at the Grand Canyon just isn't enough and will leave you wishing you had planned more time here. The Grand Canyon Chamber & Visitor's Bureau wants to help make your Grand Canyon vacation a true lifetime experience. Take time also to meet and learn from the Native Americans whose ancestors called the Grand Canyon their home some 4,000 years ago. Enjoy the color, pageantry and sounds of their traditional dancing, music and fine arts craftsmanship. The Hopi, Havasupai, Hualapai, Kaibab-Paiute and Navajo share the history of the Grand Canyon and maintain an active presence rich in tradition here today. Many people ask about the Skywalk, but sorry, you won't find it here. The Skywalk is located at Grand Canyon West, nearly 5 hours from the National Park and is part of the Hualapai Indian Reservation. The fee structure for the Skywalk is quite different from that of the National Park and there are many restrictions regarding time on the Skywalk and camera equipment.
